The Bible Says What????

1/19/2011
Sooooo....everybody wants to know why birds are falling out of the sky and fish are washing up on the shore.  Well I bet you didn't know the bible said,

For the Lord brings a charge against the inhabitants of the land; "There is no truth or mercy or knowledge of God in the land.  By swearing and lying, killing and stealing and committing adultery, they break all restraint, with bloodshed upon bloodshed.  Therefore the land will mourn; and everyone who dwells there will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea will be taken away.                     Hosea 4:1-3 (NKJV)

*After writing this yesterday, the Spirit led me to a scripture that I thought would be an excellent addition to our insight this week.

if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.                                            2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)

How's that for a little hope to carry us through the week :-)

I bet you didn't know the bible said,

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.  For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.  Avoid such people.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (English Standard Version)

Bet you didn't know God knew us so well.  But wait it gets better.

For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.
2 Timothy 3:6-7 (English Standard Version)

Yep, the Lord definitely knew what He was talking about here.  So what does this mean for us.  Well first, it gives us a time reference.  We are definitely in the last days.  That's not to say that the world is going to end tomorrow.  God is infinite so we can't confine Him to our concept of time.  What seems like forever to us may be just an instant to Him.  But what it does tell us is tomorrow is not promised.  This world is definitely coming to an end at some point so we better get prepared.

Secondly, this gives us a rubric for self evaluation.  Where do you fit in this scripture?  Are you the selfish, greedy, proud, disobedient person or are you the person God is trying to warn?  Or are you the weak woman looking for love, acceptance, and joy in all the wrong places?  Either way, we need to realize that God is showing us ourselves not to condemn but to chastise us so that we can rectify our issues before it is too late.  I pray that each of us can be honest with ourselves because God already knows the truth.  We need to humble ourselves and repent while we still have the opportunity to do so.
